chalk painted: pretty in pink + flowers dresser

I've had this Basset dresser since in 1990-something. She was first used in our master bedroom and then my daughter loved her with mismatched glass knobs. She was a beautiful dark wood.

Fast forward to when I first started furniture painting and I knew I wanted to use color to bring her new life. I knew that her height would be a perfect canvas for some flowers and some blends of soft color.

color recipe​ + Product List

• Body 
  • I covered her with Dixie Belle Tea Rose first.
  • Drawers and opposing corners of the sides blended with:
    • Dixie Belle Mud Puddle & Flamingo used on the sides of the drawers blended into Tea Rose.
    • The inside of the drawer blended with Tea Rose & Drop Cloth to lighten up the middle.
    • I added knob shading with Mud Puddle Dixie.
  • Then I highlighted the edges with Flamingo. 
  • Prima Marketing Floral Transfer
• Top
  • First I painted Dixie Belle Drop Cloth as the base. 
  • I then added Dixie Belle Tobacco Road Gel Stain and let it sit for a 30 seconds before using the wood graining tool. 
• Sealed with Dixie Belle Gator Hide & Easy Peasy Spray Wax (for texture) 
• Knobs
  • I painted the base of the knobs in Muscadine Wine to pull out the color of the flowers. 
  • When dry, I painted in Dixie Belle Moonshine Metallics Wedding Bells. 
  • I sealed the paint job and added vintage dimension with Dixie Belle Black Wax.
